I was wondering if anyone has tried to put together the variable costs that could be associated with starts and stops. Typically there is no costs factored in, but for the plants that start and stop continuously, has anyone looked into this? We typically have about 1000 starts per year  Our operating philosophy may change soon and I am looking into additional expenses that may be incurred based on an increase in starts and stops such as additional man power requirements, electrical and mechanical component failures etc.

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Regards,
